Hot Octopuss makes sustainability a top priority with their recent packaging revamp
Hot Octopuss have always been on a mission to make sustainability a top priority so they recently made some major moves for Mother Earth. Not only did they cut back the number of air freight shipments by choosing sea transportation for most of their goods but their sales team has also cut back on air travel to further offset their carbon emissions. The sales team now only travels when it is absolutely essential for a retailer partner, which helps them to provide more time and energy to individual stores during every carefully planned trip. This approach helps ensure the quality of each visit versus the quantity, allowing the team to make an even bigger impact than before this change
Chief Sales and Partnership Officer, April Lampert had been pioneering the changes and has always encouraged the brand to reconsider their sustainability and carbon footprint on a global level. April has always been passionate about the environment even before climate change and sustainability were trending on Twitter. She combined her knowledge from an environmental law and policy degree with over a decade of experience in the sex toy industry to help Hot Octopuss switch to packaging that’s both premium and eco-friendly. April says: “ This is a brand change I have been so passionate about over the years, it’s so important for the brand to be as sustainable as possible as 90% of all packaging ends up in landfills around the world. We saw this as an opportunity to make our packaging even more eye-catching, sexy and gorgeous with the objective of having customers love us just as much as Mother Earth does now. Hot Octopuss’ new packaging is proof that going green doesn’t have to be aesthetically sacrificial. It feels good to know that we’re contributing to a better world one package and orgasm at a time”.
In a nutshell – or better yet in a sustainable clamshell – Hot Octopuss didn’t have to compromise quality to help save the planet. All parts of their packaging are made from recyclable materials, and each can be recycled to ensure that future generations will inherit a cleaner planet.
Hot Octopuss Co-Founder Julia Margo says: “We didn’t have to compromise quality to help save the planet. All parts of our packaging are made from recyclable materials, and each can be recycled to ensure that future generations will inherit a cleaner planet. We didn’t just stop at using recycled cardboard for our internal clamshells (which is more expensive than plastic) either. We also minimized the amount of plastic used in manufacturing our goods”
