Adulttoymegastore wins gold at the 2021 Wellington Gold Awards
Adulttoymegastore (ATMS), New Zealand’s largest online adult retailer, won the Supporting Gold Award at the 2021 Wellington Gold Awards held at TSB Arena in Wellington on Thursday 29 July, becoming the first adult retailer to be both a finalist and winner in the annual business awards’ 23-year history.
The Wellington Gold Awards celebrate excellence and enterprise of businesses in New Zealand’s Wellington region. This year saw the award receiving its largest number of entries since launching in 1999, and almost 1,000 people attended the award ceremony.
Adulttoymegastore won the Supporting Gold category sponsored by Beca, which recognises the best Wellington infrastructure and professional services providers. Finalists for the category included Fulton Hogan, Lowe & Co Realty, Cuttriss Consultants, Quantum Security Services and The Akina Foundation.
Nicola Relph, Adulttoymegastore owner, claimed the award and said winning the prestigious business award is a testament to the normalisation of sex toys and the concept of sexual wellness in New Zealand.
“When we founded Adulttoymegastore in Wellington in 2009, we certainly didn’t think we’d ever be a finalist in mainstream awards like the Wellington Gold Awards, let alone winning them. In fact, sex toys carried a stigma. But we wanted to remove that by creating a clean, inviting, safe and discreet online shopping experience for New Zealanders to buy adult toys. We wanted to educate people about sexual wellness, remove the stigma, and normalise pleasure. Twelve years on, we’re proud to be New Zealand’s leading online retailer for everything adult,” said Mrs Relph.

Adulttoymegastore is based in Te Aro, Wellington, where it was founded in 2009, and is New Zealand’s largest online retailer for adult toys and sexual wellness products. The business ships to 11 countries and has had 344% revenue growth since 2017.
In 2019, Adulttoymegastore won the Hottest Use of Data award at the Gem Retail Hotlist Awards and the OmniChannel Award at the Retail NZ Awards. In 2018 the business won the people’s choice award for the Hottest Ecommerce Experience at the Retail Hotlist Awards.
